FAQ Answers
  1. How does a Registrar Transfer work?

You can initiate a Registrar Transfer request by submitting your request online or by faxing a printable Domain Registration/Transfer form. Once SelectNet has received your transfer request, it is processed through OpenSRS (an ICANN domain registrar). SelectNet is an authorized reseller for OpenSRS. A confirmation email message will be sent to the administrative contact email address on file with the current registrar for the domain name to confirm the intention to transfer.

Once the request has been confirmed, OpenSRS processes the transfer request by contacting the registry - which will notify the current registrar of this transfer request.

The transfer process may take approximately 5 - 10 calendar days to be completed, at which time you will receive a notification email that the name has been registerd. OpenSRS does not charge you any fees for the domain registration.

  6. Can a Transfer of Registrar request be rejected?

The losing Registrar has the ability to reject a domain name transfer request that is initiated by Open SRS/SelectNet in the following situations:

    • The transfer request was initiated within the first 60 days of the original registration date
    • There is a dispute over the domain name
    • There is a pending bankruptcy of the domain name holder
    • There is a dispute over the identity of the domain name holder
